We are an all-ages Richmond-area based nature schooling group with an emphasis on arts, crafts, foraging, bushcraft, and connecting with nature, community, and each other.

About Us

Founded in the summer of 2022, Little Owls was one of the only nature groups in the area at the time. It was started to find a new community after the pandemic split our original homeschooling group, and the ones that were available we found weren’t always the best fit for neurodivergent kids, or parents. We started with early learning activities based in nature and grew in maturity alongside the children attending. Now, it is an all-ages nature group, with our focus still on learning, play, and appreciating the world around us. What our members put in is what they get out of it, as we’re stronger together. Regular attendance lets the children and their adults develop strong bonds, friendships, and practice social skills. Neurodivergent and neurotypical brains are welcome in tandem here.

Ages of kids attending vary per session, as families come and go according to their other commitments. Activities are geared toward 5-12 year olds, however. We welcome all ages though, including tag-along siblings. Keep in mind, the younger ones may not always have the skills or patience to do some activities with adult assistance. Many of our attendees are also neurodivergent, and may also need assistance. It is the adult’s responsibility to provide guidance and assistance as needed to their children to keep everyone safe.

As many of our regular attendees get older, we are hoping to attract more kids that are upper elementary - middle school age! If you are looking for something specific for your 8+ year old child, please reach out so we can chat and make that happen.
